10 Simple Halloween Party Treats For Kids

Halloween Party Snacks for Kids

No tricks, just Halloween Party treats for kids! (and adults too!)

Family celebrations for generations have always had some kind of “Chex Mix” bowl on the table. Whether it was a sweet or savory combination, it was one constant treat everyone enjoyed. Check out this nifty little twist on Chex Mix by using another delicious cereal, Crispix!

I don’t know about you, but I have always preferred Crispix to Chex. There was something more satisfying about the puffy, almost 3D version of Chex! This is the party mix I have been waiting for.

Caramel Corn Treat Mix

  • 1 Large Box of Crispix cereal
  • 1 bag of microwaved popcorn
  • 1 cup of nuts (choose your favorite! Almonds, cashews or peanuts)
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 2 cups of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Lt. Karo Syrup
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  1. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cereal, popcorn and nuts. Set it aside.
  3. On the stove, combine the butter, brown sugar and karo syrup in a saucepan over high heat. Make sure you are stirring constantly!
  4. Bring this mixture to a rolling boil for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Remove from the heat and add in vanilla and baking soda.
  6. Slowly add the syrup to the bowl and stir to combine.
  7. Once the mixture is completely coated, spread onto a large baking sheet in a single layer.
  8. Bake for one hour, stirring the mixture every 15 minutes.
  9. Allow it to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
  10. If you are not serving right away, store in an airtight container.

Pro Tip: If you want to make a double batch, increase the popcorn to 3 bags with double the syrup mixture. Bake for an extra 15 minutes.

Big Thanks to Melissa Meraz for sharing this recipe with me!

I love looking at the different areas we already have here in Venice for picnics and invite my daughter’s friends to join us! We are so blessed to live in a place that has amazing weather all year long.

Grab a few pizzas or sandwiches, throw together a few of these spooky treats and dress up in costumes for a fun afternoon with your kids!
